AJ

January 31, 2008

Hello…sorry it has taken so long to update my blog.

It seems with the Holiday and Basketball things have no slowed down.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and Happy New Year….for those that read about the Caring Tree drive my family was involved with through Volunteers of America that was a big success. Kimberly-Clark (where my mom works) was able to raise money and donations to provide 98 abused and neglected children a Christmas... We helped with the shopping for these children and it will make you realize how lucky you are.

After winning State which was the best feeling it was time to head right into basketball.  We have been playing for a while now and the team is improving each game…we have a lot of talented players on the team and our Coach – Jimmy Messer is a great coach so I have enjoyed playing again this year.

Baseball is getting ready to start as well…I am still in basketball so will be  a bit longer before I could practice with the team but I have started throwing some to make sure my arm is ready.

Now to the Football front….we all have heard that Coach Major Applewhite left Bama….Bama was and still is one of my top schools.  I really like Coach Applewhite as a person….great guy but I do believe he prefers an offense that probably doesn’t suit my style of play as well as others.  I am excited about the new OC Bama has hired and they are definitely one of my top schools.

I will be making some visits this summer to of course Bama, Oklahoma, Georgia, and LSU for sure….I pretty much have these scheduled already.  I am open at this point to all schools still…..My head football coach – Coach Bates told me recently that he was contacted by several schools and told that offers are coming from them as well.

Right now I am going to keep my options open although I have narrowed my list down at this point to four (4) schools and am hoping that the recruiting process will bring some attention to my teammates who are well deserving of recognition.  The process can be hard at times….I don’t think I knew what to expect from the process and I am told it is about to get worse after signing day.  But if a recruiter comes to talk to me and we have the chance to show them film on other players as well mine and that helps my teammates then it is all worth it.  Right now my plan is to announce my decision around our Spring Game so that I can help the school I choose with recruiting as well…..

I am so happy and excited for my team mates that will be signing this coming week on National Signing Day…I have been playing sports with these guys for years and they are the best guys you would ever want to be around….I wish them all the best in their careers.  Congratulations to all you guys!
